Criteria to determine if your bird is having an emergency:

Inability to perch

Ataxia (wobbly or can’t walk)

Any form of hemorrhage (bleeding)

Beak or Bone fracture

Severe respiratory difficulty

Vomiting

Any bird attacked by cat or ferret

Ingestion of foreign bodies

Not eating

Fluffed, depressed on cage bottom

Loose droppings or bloody droppings

Concussions

 

Setting up a home incubator or sick bird environment

The ideal temperature should be between 85-90 degrees. Cover ¾ of the cage with toweling.

A heating pad on low should be placed under the cage. Use soft, low perches or no perches (for

birds with fractures or are unstable). Food and water should be easily accessible. Keep things

low stress. Keep everything clean.
