Northern Illinois Parrot
Society

Thank
you for your interest in the Northern Illinois Parrot Society. NIPS
began in 1988 with two main goals. First, to promote better care and
understanding of hookbills and other cage birds, through education
of our members and the public. Second, to raise funds to help
support avian research and conservation projects. Through the years,
NIPS has donated more than $29,300 to a variety of avian research
and conservation programs. |

2007 Meeting Schedule
Board of
Directors |
Monthly
meetings provide a wonderful opportunity to learn about different
bird species, how to keep your bird healthy, and which diet is best.
Birds are allowed to attend, and many people bring their pet birds.
Local veterinarians explain various avian diseases and what can be
done to prevent them. Bird behaviorists help explain why our birds
do what they do, and how to correct any bad habits. Other guest
speakers explain the importance of a nutritious diet. Legislation
regarding bird related issues is also a topic of discussion. |

|
Every
meeting includes a guest speaker or program, free refreshments, a
raffle table, and an opportunity to meet new friends (both human and
feathered). You’ll meet other avian enthusiasts and breeders who
will gladly share their experience and knowledge. |
